Why is there such a fuss in weight gain and yes, weight loss?

For one, a great portion of our society seems to be less appreciative of too much weight. Thus, the prevalence of obesity among Americans for which a number of diseases and ailments are directly linked.

We guess you might like to know what diseases we are pertaining to so we have provided a brief list in here:

Another good reason why we, Americans are so obsessed with weight loss and weight gain topics is because we are far too sensitive to what other people may think of us.

If you haven't notice yet (which we know you already have), we all have one ideal image of the human body. One that is sexy or masculine, with curves that would entice the world, and one with no flaws. In short a perfect body. (But only according to what the present societal perception dictates.)

For years, healthy body had a whole different meaning from what we project today. Look at the famous Mona Lisa and other ladies immortalized in the paintings. What seems to be their similarities? They all have this rather plump body that was the ideal of their age. Which only means that it is only we who create the concept of a good body from a not so good one. Nonetheless, we are still trapped on our present reality. So we persist to attain a body which in reality is rather hard to achieve. Atleast, not unless if you are gifted with a beautiful body.

While we know for a fact that we are somehow lured by the social standards, we still agree to support them. So we toil each day to achieve a beauty we naturally didn't have. Well, since we all believe in that ideal look, it is for us to be properly informed on some truths that might prove beneficial for you.

About fat free foods…
While a food item may be labeled fat free, it doesn't necessarily mean that it has absolutely no fat content. In fact, if we say fat free we only pertain to the "less than half a gram fat content in each serving", and that is according to FDA. And please read on for you might as well discover that even a 100% fat food could be labeled as "fat free" as long as you follow the small serving size. So it means that if you exceed with the recommended serving, which is not hard to do, you have actually taken in 1 gram of fat or more.

About the term light or lite…
Just like the above example, a light food is somewhat the minimized version of the original item in terms of calories. In a sense, that would only mean that the light item should at most have 1/3 calorie content in comparison with the original item.

About unrealistic serving sizes…
As you might already have guessed, serving sizes are often not feasible. One good example- 40 servings of a canned whipped cream! Not a chance, really.

So you see, we simply cannot rely on facts about weight loss. We have to dig deeper to know the truths behind them.
